Many of us recently have received the email in our inboxes talking about a proposed 28th Amendment to the Constitution. One that would require all members of Congress to abide by all the laws they pass without exception. When I first read this, it reminded me just how backwards some of the things that happen in DC are. I mean, what personal accountability would there be for anyone who was charged with coming up with laws for any organization if they too were not accountable to those same laws. But amazingly, this is how things work in DC.

The body of the email goes something like this:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States...

President Obama promised us at least 8 times health care negotiations and hearings would be televised on CSPAN.
Instead, we have seen:
Roughly 2000 page bills that come to the floor of the House and Senate for a vote with sometimes as little as 48 hours for the public and Congressional...

The head of C-SPAN has implored Congress to open up the last leg of health care reform negotiations to the public, as top Democrats lay plans to hash out the final product among themselves.

C-SPAN CEO Brian Lamb wrote to leaders in the House and Senate Dec. 30 urging them to open "all important negotiations, including any conference committee meetings," to televised coverage on his network.
