“Congress shall make no laws respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble. And to petition the Government for redress of grievances”
It is the objective of this committee to foster respect for and understanding of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and all rights and freedoms that protect individuals from unwarranted government action and ensure one’s ability to participate in the civil and political life of the state without discrimination or repression. The committee will facilitate such understanding and respect by the citizens of North Idaho through education and the promotion of the values of each individual right. All efforts to diminish, restrict, or change this amendment or other sections of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights or the Declaration of Independence and/or other issues pertaining to civil and political rights including but not limited to the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of petition and assembly and freedom of association will be vigorously opposed.
It is the responsibility of this committee to research and study current First Amendment and civil and political rights issues and proposed changes to these issues, prepare summaries of their findings and present their conclusions and action or position recommendations to the Executive Committee of the Tea Party Patriots of North Idaho for approval.
